In Oulu, in Europe's far North, 2026 is not just a year of celebrations. It is proof that investing in culture can transform a city and push back the cold by warming up human relationships.

Seven years after its year as European Capital of Culture, and when Matera is Mediterranean Capital of Culture and dialogue for 2026, the city of the Sassi asks what it means to be Mediterranean without a coastline. The answer comes from nine artists, four museums and a walk across the old town – until 8 December 2026.

The 17th Culture Next Conference brings the Culture Next network to Oulu, European Capital of Culture 2026, for three days of exchange, reflection, and meaningful connection. During the conference, EcocNews’s media partnership with Culture Next – of which we are very proud – will be officially announced.

Arctic Food Lab's Taste Adventure will be held from 23 to 26 September. 23 restaurants and cafés from the Oulu region have registered for the event. They have planned dishes priced at 5 and 7 euros for the event. Customers will score the dishes they taste, and the winners will be announced after the event.
